'Barfi' director Anurag Basu has acquired the Indian rights to popular American TV drama 'Prison Break'.
Basu - whose first foray into directing was the long-running TV soap 'Tara' - reportedly acquired the rights to the show several months ago with the help of Prison Break executive producer Brett Ratner who, apart from directing the 'Rush Hour' franchise and 'X-Men: The Last Stand', also produced the international version of 'Kites', which was directed by Basu.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, Basu will co-produce and act as creative director of the Indian remake of Prison Break.
The critically acclaimed series was aired for four seasons on US network Fox, beginning 2005.
The show starred Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows, who is framed for the murder of the US Vice President's brother, and Wentworth Miller as Burrows' brother who hatches an elaborate plan to spring him out of death row.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
