A British Asian man jailed for murdering his partner’s two-year-old daughter has been killed in prison.
Subhan Anwar was jailed for life in 2009 for the murder of Sanam Navsarka in Huddersfield, northern England.
Sanam had suffered more than 100 injuries at the hands of sadistic Anwar while the little girl was in his care.
He had been killed after being held hostage inside a cell at Long Lartin Prison in Worcestershire, according to reports.
Two of Anwar’s fellow inmates have been arrested in connection with the killing.
Anwar's partner Zahbeena Navsarka was cleared of her daughter's murder but found guilty of manslaughter and jailed for nine years.
During a month-long ordeal a metal pole was used to shatter the little girl’s leg.
She reportedly died with fractures to all her limbs.
Sentencing the couple in February 2009, Judge Peter Thornton QC said: "Your deliberate cruelty is beyond belief.
“Humanity has let her down."
Sanam’s handprints and bloodstains were found inside cupboards where she had been put as a punishment at the home in Huddersfield and also at a property in Batley, West Yorkshire.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
