Subhash Ghai's iconic 1993 caper 'Khalnayak' is set to become the latest Bollywood classic to get a 21st century reboot.
The director told the Press Trust of India that producers have already lined up a number of directors to helm the remake of the film which starred the then-real life couple of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit.
The film revolved around the escape and capture of terrorist Ballu (Sanjay) by Inspector Ram (Jackie Shroff) and his girlfriend officer Ganga (Madhuri).
The film was a major critical and commercial success and produced the suggestive hit 'Choli Ke Peeche'.
Khalnayak was also the pinnacle of Dutt's career at the time before his arrest for involvement in the Mumbai bombings of the year the film was released.
The actor's conviction for possession of arms was upheld by the Supreme Court this week and he was sentenced to five years in jail.
Dutt who has already spent 18 months in prison will surrender on 16 May to serve out the remainder of the sentence.
